My Thoughts2003 NBA Draft Thoughts - Recap, thoughts, winners, losers, and more... Where to start, where to start.... Well, I guess since the NBA Draft is coming up tonight I will give you my thoughts and predictions on what will happen this evening. First of all the top 3 picks are set. Lebron, Darko, and Carmelo will be the top 3 picks in the draft and they will all be superstars and all stars within a couple years. They all have enough talent to play a huge role on their respective teams and will signifigantly improve their teams this year. The Pistons will one again challenge for the Eastern Conference title, Cleveland should double their win total from last year, and the Nuggest will flirt with .500. After that Chris Bosh seems to be the consensus #4 pick. The Raptors are sitting in that spot right now but they are looking to trade that pick and some of their big contracts for someone who can help them this year. The the draft really gets unpredictable. Players are jumping up and down teams draft boards and scenarios are changing by the hour. I think the following players will all be taken somewhere in the lottery: Maciej Lampe, Nick Collison, Chris Kamen, Dwyane Wade, Kirk Hinrich, Mickael Pietrus, and TJ Ford. Most Overrated Players: TJ Ford, Jarvis Hays, Marcus Banks, and all the other High School players (Outlaw, Ebi, Perkins, and Lang). If anyone takes any of these HS players it should be sometime in the second round. None of them are ready for the NBA and they shouldn't be getting first round money to sit on the bench for 3 years. Ford, Hayes, and Banks will all be busts. All of them have been projected in the lottery in different mock drafts but I can't see any of them playing a big role for any of their teams Most Underrated Players: David West, Leandrinho Barbosa, Luke Walton, Mario Austin. All 4 of these players have played very well at a very high level against good competition for a few years. None of them will be superstars but they all could play a Bruce Bowen/Kurt Thomas type of role for their teams. They would help their teams win and wouldn't contribute to the losses. They all have great fundamentals and will be solid NBA players.
