Andre Johnson caught 48 balls for 1,038 yards last year at Miami. Playing with the Houston Texans he probably won't be able to catch for over 1,000 yards. After two games he is the leading receiver for the team though. If his numbers hold up he would go for 88 catches and 1,176 yards but I don't think he will be able to reach those numbers. History shows us that many rookies decline in the second half of their rookie seasons. This could be because of fatigue, burnout, complacency, or the fact that the opposition gets the chance to study you more and figure out your weaknesses. Andre Johnson has the size, skill, speed, and smarts to be a great receiver in the NFL but don't expect the world this year. One of the good things Andre Johnson has going for him is the fact he plays for the Houston Texans. He was able to step in a start for the team and also since they are only a second year team no one realistically expects them to win more than 4 or 5 games. Andre Johnson won't face the same pressure that other rookies will face and should be able to relax and play. He still needs to learn some key parts of the game like downfield blocking, attention to detail, and how to use more than just his natural talent. Generally speaking if a rookie receiver has around 40-50 catches for 600-800 yards that is a great season. Andre Johnson should be near the upper end of these numbers by the end of the year. 60 catches for 750 yards would be an excellent rookie campaign and should put him in the running for offensive rookie of the year. He will probably be in Charles Rogers shadow but that is good because he can kind of fly under the radar.
